  • In January 2000, Miami City Ballet moved into its new home, a custom-built facility, believed to be only the second ground-up construction in America for a professional ballet company. The three story, 63,000 square foot building houses the professional company, school, administrative and production offices, costume shop and storage. The facility cost $7.4 million dollars for hard and soft costs, and was built with support from the City of Miami Beach, State of Florida, and the private community.Designed by Miami’s ARQUITECTONICA and built by Stobs Brothers Construction, the structure faces onto Collins Park, the new Regional Library, the Atlantic Ocean and the Bass Museum of Art. The City of Miami Beach has engaged architect Robert A.M. Stern to develop a master plan for the “Collins Park Cultural Campus,” site of Miami City Ballet, expanded Bass Museum, new Regional Library and New World Symphony musicians residence. With Stern’s design of the new Regional Library and the Collins Park improvements, the campus has buildings designed by three prominent architects.
